Heritage Restorations

The Roof & Wall Doctor’s main work activity is the removal of existing roofs on private homes and buildings, and their replacement with Zincalume or Colorbond.

We are a Registered Building Company, also actively involved in the restoration of roof and walls for National Trust Heritage Buildings, throughout Western Australia.

We are pleased to list some of the substantial Heritage Buildings, that The Roof & Wall Doctor has restored, during the current financial year, we are, for The National Trust of Australia.

  • THE PERTH OBSERVATORY in West Perth
  • THE OLD CHRIST’S CHURCH in Mandurah
  • POLICE STATION in Wickepin
  • TRANBY HOUSE in Maylands
  • GWAMBYGINE HOMESTEAD in York

All of the above buildings are supervised by the appropriate National Trust Architects. The major requirement to restore a National Trust building is to remove all alterations that have been incorrectly added to these buildings.

Then using our highly skilled tradesmen, we replace these incorrect additions using old fashioned methods and materials.

In all cases our aim is to restore the building to its former glory and in the case of old walls, allow these walls to breathe, as they did originally.

The Company has won many awards for it’s Heritage Restoration and offers a complete service from an initial investigation of problems and liaison with the appropriate Architects, through to the quotation, specifying and completion of the works to the appropriate standards.

TOODJAY FIRE STATION

  • This contract involved the removal and safe disposal of the Asbestos roof and walls of the Heritage listed Toodjay Fire Station. Due to it's Heritage status the Asbestos was replaced with 8 foot lengths of Galvanised iron. Work was completed on schedule and under WorkSafe Class III Laws. The advertising sign left at the front of the building, has so far generated in excess of 10 enquiries from persons wanting the country services of The Roof & Wall Doctor.

MIDLANDS POLICE & CITIZENS YOUTH CLUB

  • A large single storey building with an Asbestos roof, used by the Youth of Midland as a Gymnasium and located in the Midland Police complex. The complete roof and gutters were removed and replaced with Colorbond Steel Sheeting and Colorbond gutters. At the same time the client instructed The Roof & Wall Doctor to install Building Blanket Insulation and Whirly Birds. This work was also completed under WorkSafe Class III Laws on time and within budget.

LOTTERIES HOUSE, WEST PERTH

  • A large building with many leaks through the approximately 100 skylights and vents that penetrated the original roof. The Roof & Wall Doctor removed the existing roof and replaced it with Colorbond sheeting and addressed and solved all leaks. Job finished on time and to budget.

ST JOSEPH'S CHURCH, PERENJORI

  • The Roof & Wall Doctor has restored many of Monsignor Hawes buildings throughout the wheatbelt. We recently completed Stage III of the resoration in Perenjori, which is one of Monsignor Hawes last buildings. The Company won a prestigious award from the Royal Australian institute of Architects for it's restoration as main contractor of the Lady of Mt Carmel Church & Priests House in Mullewa.

Recently The Roof & Wall Doctor submitted Tenders for the replacement of the steel roof on the Mukinbuddin Senior High School and the Asbestos roof of the Carnamah Shire Town Hall.

We also submitted Tenders to the Department of Housing & Works for the cleaning and restoration of clay tiled roofs in Wundowie and York.

These were public tenders and The Roof & Wall Doctor’s highly competitive price structure allowed us to be the lowest quote on all three tenders. All the above projects have been completed on time and to specifications.

We recently completed the re-roofing of the Brookton St Mark’s Church and the roof of the Monsignor Hawes designed Holy Trinity Church in Northampton. Further projects include the wall restoration of the old Brookton Police Station and replacement of the Asbestos roof on the Koorda Kindergarten.
